Soldering Fume Extractor

Soldering Fume Extractor

Fume Extractor

Finally got off my butt and designed a soldering fume extractor. No more breathing in carcinogenic smoke from random chemicals while soldering. Now I exclusively breath carcinogenic vapor from strange oils and fuels.

The original idea was to rip apart the dumbass, broken food dehydrator and use the large fan to pull smoke, but that thing was non-standard in every way possible. Thankfully, there are plenty more fans available to use.

I won’t go in-depth here, but it’s simply two fans, a cage, and a first-stage filter left over from air purifier replacements. It pulls and cleans the burning flux so it won’t tickle your nose anymore. This’ll make future soldering jobs more pleasant.
